UN Global Compact

ACO have committed to the UN Global Compact (UNGC) by submitting the voluntary questionnaire for evaluation. The initiative launched by the United Nations aims to encourage sustainable business growth using 10 key principles. These principles act as a framework, stretching across human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

The UNGC is a global call to action for businesses to integrate sustainability and responsible business practices into the core operations. By committing, ACO endeavour to do just that. We have submitted our communication on progress 2023.

The principles:

Human Rights:
Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights within their sphere of influence.
Principle 2: Businesses should ensure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Labour:
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
Principle 4: Businesses should promote the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour.
Principle 5: Businesses should support the effective abolition of child labour.
Principle 6: Businesses should eliminate discrimination in employment and occupation.

Environment:
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
Principle 8: Businesses should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.
Principle 9: Businesses should encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Anti-Corruption:
Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are interconnected with the UN Global Compact, sharing a common objective. Whilst the UN Global Compact provides a platform for sustainable business the 17 SDGs provide a holistic view on sustainability, touching upon every area.

ACO is aware of the broader need for sustainable action. That is why we continue to advance, not just the areas directly affected by the business.
